How it works

Microneedling is also known as collagen induction therapy (CIT). A microneedling pen tip uses tiny needles to trigger a wound healing response in the skin that causes the skin to produce collagen and elastin. This treatment is excellent for improving issues with pigmentation and texture as well as improving overall skin health.

First-time clients who book a microneedling appointment will receive a facial instead. This ensures we have the opportunity to assess your skin and determine the best treatment plan for you.

Is this pregnancy/breastfeeding safe?

No. For our pregnant & breastfeeding clients we have other great services to help you get glowing skin!

Does it hurt?

It’s not the most comfortable thing out there but it doesn’t hurt (If you’ve ever had IPL - this is way more comfortable than that).

Most of the time we do not use numbing cream in our microneedling treatments. This is mainly because microneedling constricts blood vessels in your skin and stops your skin from turning red. Our skin therapists rely on this visual cue to ensure your treatment is as effective as possible. Without feedback from the skin, microneedling procedures tend to be more aggressive than necessary, leading to increased risk and longer healing time.

What is the downtime?

You will likely be red for 3-4 hours after your microneedling appointment. This normally looks and feels like a sunburn. Some people may experience some itchiness, which is your body’s histamine response as it tries to heal itself. Redness will dissipate for the majority of clients within a few hours.

It’s important to maintain moisture levels in the skin and protect yourself from sun exposure for optimal healing. If going outside, be sure to wear a broad spectrum SPF of 30+ and try to stay out of direct sunlight.

What device do we use?

The microneedling device we use is called the Dermastamp. It is Health Canada Certified and you can read about it here!

We love it because of its superior German engineering and because it has just the right amount of needles (6! This eliminates drag and bruising on the skin).

How many sessions do I need? How often should I get microneedling?

This is determined by your skin therapist and depends on what your individual skin needs.
For best results most people will be recommended a course of 3-6 treatments spaced 4-6 weeks apart. Subsequently, 2-3 treatments per year will keep your skin plump, clear and glowing.
