In addition to skin-caring lipids, Oleogel S contains natural phospholipids, especially phosphatidylserine (PS) in high concentrations. Phosphatidylserine is a vital component of biological membranes, particularly the inside of cell membranes. During apoptosis, the controlled cell death, PS signals the macrophages (scavenger cells of the immune system) to enclose the cell and digest it completely.

The recognition of phosphatidylserine-exposed cells by macrophages contributes to anti-inflammatory effects, reducing inflammation associated with various skin concerns such as scars, sun damage, or other forms of skin damage. The removal of old or damaged cells stimulates new collagen production, crucial for skin elasticity and firmness, making it beneficial in age-management skincare formulations.
